Just had a pretty easy night, watched phonebooth with Finlay there and now at home just trying to finish off tidying my room. Moving a few things around, got a big ass tv on the desk now for some prime xbox playing time, btw I dont meant like a fancy big widescreen tv, its a full on box like.

Got an exam tomorrow at uni. Ano its supposed to be my week off but their having this random exam lol so gotta go do it. Its on java and I'm pretty confortable with java now so its going to be alright I hope.

Dont really know what to do with myself this week, not many gigs on or any thing to exciting happening for halloween appart from kellys and all that... but i dont want to go.

Bought a ticket to go see feeder play in belfast next month. Really excited about that! Matts already got a ticket sorted and all so, will be with him. Also theres a gig on the 15th of november thats happening in belfast with 4 of my favorite bands playing on the one stage so I must be there no matter what lol.

Goodbye Ubuntu

After nine months of using Ubuntu (Linux)....
I've decided to change back to windows only for 1 reason and that is compatability. Nothing more, I dont expect good speeds from windows nor no bugs I just need to be using softwares that are currently only available on windows and not ubuntu.

Ubuntu has been great, I recommend it to anyone who wants a cheap, extremely fast and efficient operating system for their computer, I will be back but right now (at 3.18am) its format and reboot time.

P.s I really hope I burnt this iso file right or we're screwed.

Ellooo! sorry its been a little too long since my last blog. Just kinda settling into uni and getting the hard work on the go has been taking up time at home and todays been my first real day to just sit down and chill. Check out that sky tonight ^ loving it

So since the last time I blogged, I've made a few videos on the new laptop but havnt had them editted yet so you'll see them as soon as thats done. heres a pic of that laptop below btw.

The Band have had a busy week or two with two gigs last weekend then a recording session at broken studio's in portstewart with Paddy trolon on wednesday. (WHAT A SESSION IT WAS). The final recordings will be passed over to us tonight after youth group so they'll be on myspace tomorrow I'm sure if you want to check them out.

Not much else exciting has happened the past week or so appart from on friday I went in to the booky's and put a bet of 3 matches for a £1.50 with James and Fin and all three of my games / predictions came true so got myself £40 :] happy days

Soo yeah. New news? I started uni yesterday (properly). Its good! havnt really met anyone new yet, still kinda just having chats with people I already knew but hopefully soon :). I'm really excited about the modules I'm doing, especially the Software development module which we're already started looking at java in. Its going to be well fun.

I'm currently sitting in the computer area next to the libary, its really confy haha, more confy than at home on my wooden chair. Oh on that note!! I'm getting a new laptop, it was supposed to be arriving today but after checking Amazon track I think it will be here tomorrow, Its soo cool! cant wait to get it. EEE PC 1000H <- check that baby out.

I'm free until after lunch then I'm labs for 2 hours. Tonight I think Fin, James and I are gonna head to Belfast to see the lads at queens. Maybe stay the night and celebrate Jock stewarts (Johnny) Birthday. I get Wednesdays off uni so its all good. Means I can go upto Belfast every week for Students night and stay there at a mates and come home anytime I please on Wednesday.

And Finally - about the title. I'm all happy that after Travis Barkers plane crash last week he's gonna be alright after around a years recovery. Amazing Drummer!

Last night me James and Fin drove up to see Strait laces supporting Two door cinema club. Thoughts on the evening... Strait laces should have headlined. Although the crowd was more for the cinema club, Laces were definitely the better band. Reasons; For one, they have a drummer and not a Macbook that makes the most weirdest intro's to tunes ever and it's not till you see it live you realise how much a band lacks in character with out a drummer! For two, Strait laces were much more interactive with the crowd, honestly TDCC become a little more socialable, you didn't even introduce yourselfs till the last song and then quite disgustingly said, 'Go and buy our EP'. For three, Strait laces have a real distinction in sound track to track whereas TDCC seemed to be playing the same song for 10-15 straight. Although to be fair TDCC are definitely three talented musicians, especially the bassist, some sweet riffs going on there + Sound quality in Auntie annies is supurb, friggin impressed. I did buy TDCC's EP, good price and loved the tracks

Funny story: I parked my car in a multistory car park in Belfast and didnt realise it closed at midnight, so coming back to a locked up car park at 12.20 was not! good crack. Had to sleep on a sofa for the night. A lesson was learned - Belfast car parks are expensive and even the confy-ist of sofas still leave you with neck strain.

Aw I'm happy! After alot of uncertainty on weather or not this gig would be good or not, I have concluded it was £35 well spent! I could have paid another £100. Matty booked tickets months ago for this and waow. We got right to the front well, near enough the front at the main stage but right beside the like stage that came right out into the crowd so got really close and the music was just incredable. They played all the classics, 'how you remind me' 'savin me' 'photograph' 'someday' and then some new ones like rockstar and also a cover of Elton johns, 'saturday nights alright'. They also had like loads of firework and all that jazz as well as cannons fireing out free stuff. I got some beer over me as they threw that out to the crowd...as they know about us Irish and our beer. lol

Thought why not sit down and write a little about the bands I've been listening to lately. Note, I'm not reviewing tracks or bands here, I'm just pointing out what I like, lol so don't think I'm working for NME or something like that :P

Starting with Panama kings.
I bought their single 'young blood' at the Futureheads gig with them supporting and I have been very happy with my purchase. It came with 3 other tracks which are great too, but it's obvious young blood is their single for a dam good reason, straight from the very attractive intro to the great lyrics to the well cool guitar effects used half way through the track, awesome!

Next band are the Hoosiers, ever since seeing them on tv at the v-fesival I've just loved them, haha. I loved them before that, but I'm now desperately wanting to see them live.

Nexxxt is... Vampire weekend, bought their album last Wednesday. Totally loving it, even though most of the tracks arnt something I'd listen to. I guess some of their tracks you have to listen to at a certain time and place and thats what I've been doing. Like for example, track 3 and one or two others are the tracks I would often listen to, their bang on with the genre I like, but then the other tracks the ones I say are kinda different and I wouldnt listen to normally sound brilliant when I'm in my room just doing my emails etc (chillin) and then for some reason when track 3 comes on I hate it and turn it over. weird.

Emm, cant be bothered writing anymore, but I guess the next band I'll be listening to for the next wee while will be Nickleback and Stained because I'm going to see them in concert on friday.

Hit the island last night for a bit of an adventure. Caught the 9 O'clock sailing from Camus picnic area to the tip of the island on our trusty ''CAR ROOF BOX''. What a way to travel. Then aw it was an amazing night bar a few things like being freezing cold and having trouble lighting the fire cause the wood was so wet. Had a few brews and just a night of chillin with the lads then in the morning we went fishing and caught some roach and gudgen lol if anyone knows what they are? :/

Was in Belfast on wednesday and Thurday. Went down early wednesday morning to meet up with Ciera which was class crack, really had a good day going to tesco's, meeting up with Helen, Jo, Alex during the day for lunch and then a wee tour of sullivan school. Then in the evening hanging out with the girls mentioned before plus Cafey, Jenny, Sarah and two lads. TWAS CLASS MEETING YOU ALL :] We went out and did a bit of bowling. Check out the mother ship!! ^^. Then waow I had a good nights sleep, and then in the morning had a bit of chillin time then said bii's to Ciera and headed off to see Matty surr.

Twas great to see him again. He's been in America the past few months so yeh got to catch up with him about it all, Had a pizza hut and browsed around Belshalf in the music shops etc. Gotta keep remembering to get Feeder tickets. Gonna be one amazing gig! - Dude glad to have you home!

Just a wee update on things. I've been writing allot of song lyrics and small tunes the past week and I think tonight I'm going to finally finish one of them. I usually get like a verse and chorus and then run out of lyrics and then it becomes and upward challenge to complete the lyrics then finish the music and it just never gets done, but tonight I will maybe finish lol.

I've been thinking about getting my room done up a wee bit and maybe introduce a few pets. How about a big fish tank for next to my computer cause arnt fish meant to be relaxing to watch? It would be good for doing my homework next too etc. Then! also, maybe a wee animal like a rat or hamster, something relatively big but also cute and that would enjoy just running around my bedroom during the day, just as a bit of company. hehe, yay or nay? Then finally. A band that have caught my eye over a period of time but now I'm just hooked and loving atm. The cutaways are from belfast and recorded an ep with start together studios and its sounding amazing. We have indeed. Just home from Mclaughlin bar in portrush and I can confirm tonight was the highlight of my summer and If I'm forgetting something at least its wellll up there. Yesterday (Friday) we played in Limadvady and really enjoyed the night playing with something like eight other bands. Highlights being... Never close, *shows photo's

Okay so my pin code arrived on Thursday morning and I thought.. HAPPY DAYS, I can now.. Finally get some money but NAwww. They still havnt processed my cheques yet. Goodness me I hate Nationwide.

Anyway. Got 2 busy days ahead of me. We've a practice in 7 hours time (noon) then we've to get all our gear away to Limavady for a battle of the bands at the roe view inn with a load of local bands friday evening, then we've got to bring all our kit back to Coleraine and then we've another gig on Saturday evening with a band from Scotland called Be a familiar. Personally I dont like their recordings and have tried to find some live stuff on youtube with little success so I'm not sure how that will go but on the Doish side of things I'm really looking forward to saturday. We've been practicing a new song and look forward to playing it live.

haha. I'm confused on how to start this. Infact I'll keep it short, basically Ciera and her friends (my friends now tooo) Helen and Alie were up in Castlerock from Belfast and well, its just been a fun/new experience. hmm, yes. Their company is just so unlike any company I've had before. I've been so happy to have meet such a dead on wee group, its great. As a Christian in Coleraine I dont think I've really understood the whole concept of ''God in everything we do''. Quite encouraging and learning-ful to see how it should be done. On monday night/tuesday morning, we all just lay on the sand at castlerock beach and had like a quiet/singing/talking time with God, something I had never done before. Definitely gonna be doing that again.

Tuesday afternoon I had to say my goodbyes to the girls :[ and I got my bass guitar back from the repair shop :] and went off to band practice... oh my word, I cant wait to this gig coming up on Saturday. We've heard that the headlining band has a big following so the crowd will be pretty big and I'm just really looking forward to playing our tunes. Tonight was just a bit of chilling with lads playing xbox and well yeh. I'm pretty happy woop.

Recent floods

Northern Ireland and other parts of the UK have recently had vast qualities of rain fall, as in a months worth in just a few hours. Due to this high amount of rain fall, its ruined any chance of going Wakeboarding or kayaking as the river is completely flooded. Kind of sucks as this is the only summer I'll get before starting into a 4 year uni course and I'm not getting the chance to ''fully enbrace it'' lol. Check out the flood gates in coleraine -

Aye so we get on the stage, I quickly check my bass is in tune. Piano solo intro begins and I quickly reach for my phone to turn it off and then bang! the strap for my bass let loose and the bass hit the floor. Haha, good way to start the set. Wasnt too bad tho, just picked her up and told them to repeat the intro till I was tuned back up and ready. From the on, it was great, loved it!

The lads are finally back from going right round Europe. I have friends again =]. No well, I do have other friends than these lads but like their the only guys I reallly know well and missed soo much. Met Finlay last night the rest went to their beds, sounds like they had a good time.

Went to a Panama kings gig with Finlay at the retro last night lol. Pretty good like, thought they were pure banging (never said that before). Skipped seeing ASIWYFA and The colour code cause we didnt want to be out too late. Strait laces are playing next week!! cant wait to see that. Also Doish are playing on Wednesday... yip in yah!.

Panama kings + Futureheads

Was down in Lisburn the other night seeing Panama kings and Futureheads with a few mates. What a night. To be honest I had more fun during the Futureheads session but thats only cause I hardly knew all the new songs Panama kings threw at us (big treat right enough) and I was recked having just drove 60 odd miles to get there. Loved the last new one they played (cant remember the name) and bought the new single cause they played young blood so blimmin well it made me want it.

Highlights of the Futureheads set were definitely Walking backwards, Radio heard and Hound of love. The crowd was getting well into it at that stage.

Joy division

Joy division, my second favorite band after Jimmy eat world. Joy division to me is like on of those books in English class you need to know inside out and come to admire only its a band from the 70's. Just the creative tunes and the most poetic, insightful and meaningful lyrics ever written dragged me soo far into the history of this band and everything surrounding it, I really love them and even though they were short lived their music will live on forever and so will the memories of Ian Curtis and the unique-ness he brought to the band making its mark in history. Welcome to my blogger. I did have a wordpress blog but I'm moving here now cause its a tad better. Its been a few weeks since I last wrote a blog, so I'm just going to quickly write up somethings you missed.

1. It was my birthday last week and to the left I've added a picture of me celebrating it. I'm 19 now, woop.

2. New horizon was on from the 19th to the 25th of July and it was great fun, meeting loads of new people, seeing friends and listening to the speakers at the main tent. Will talk more on then in the near future.

3. I'm thinking of doing Vlogging a little, soon! I still need to find a computer to plug my webcam into, saying it doesnt work on mine for some reason or another.

4. I'm missing the lads who are away in Europe atm, 4 of my best mates are currently back packing around Europe, I believe their in Switzerland at this very minute and their not going to be back for another 6 days but then again they've been away 25 already, so I can hold out this little bit more.

5. My Parents and sisters are away in Italy at the mo aswel. They've been away for a week already and they'll be back next saturday, not missing them one bit. ojoj, okay maybe just a wee bit. Home alone and enjoying the peace but of course it'll be good to see them back.

6. I've been writing some new song lyrics so may share them with you all soon.
